Ways to Help Out

Suggested Donation:

Rather than organize a fund-raising event that would require numerous parent volunteers to pull off, we've elected to instead ask that those who are able make a $25 donation to the team.  The monies raised will go to cover things like entry fees for meets, necessary equipment, and costs associated with overnight trips.  Checks can be made out to TJHSST (and put "XC" in the memo) and be given to Coach Withington.

Snack Sign Up:

We are looking for parents to volunteer to bring bottled water or sports drinks; bananas, orange sections, or other fruit; bagels; and granola or energy bars to the weekend meets. Please avoid foods containing nuts as some of our athletes have severe peanut or tree nut allergies.  Go to this link to sign up:

Join Colonial Athletic Boosters (CAB):

Please consider showing your support for athletics at TJ by joining boosters.  More information can be found at:

Cheerleading & Photography:

Please come out to the meets, bring your camera, and share your photos with the parent liaisons. We'll publish the photos or website links in future newsletters.

Running log information

We're now using Strava to track running mileage and activity level.  We've set up a club on Strava for TJ XC and would like everyone to join.  This will assist the coaches by keeping us informed as to your status and progress over the summer and throughout the season.  It's also a great way for you to keep your personal running log.

Strava is a tool for tracking fitness activities.  Activities can be automatically created from data recorded via the Strava smartphone app (if you run with your phone), via your watch-based GPS (Garmin, Suunto, TomTom, FitBit, etc.) or entered manually to the Strava App or website.  Besides running, you can also use Strava to record other activities (cycling, swimming, lifting, etc.).

You can login to Strava using Facebook, Google, or by creating a separate login based on your email address.  It's free to join and use all the features we need (they offer premium subscriptions as well).  You can modify privacy settings to choose the data you share and with whom.

There is also a social component to Strava as you are able to view the activities of other members, give kudos and make comments.  There are also features such as achievements, segments and challenges.  The club site is set up to keep a weekly leaderboard, display recent activities and can be used for message posting and events.
