A collegiate athletic league made up of 10 member universities from the Northeastern United States is called the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). The CAA was founded in 1979 and has a long history of encouraging academic success, good sportsmanship, and athletic excellence. The ECAC South basketball league was renamed the Colonial Athletic Association in 1979.
